The spaceThe home is situated on the back portion of a single lot. The front section is an RV lot that can be rented together or separately.
The inside is cozy but it's the back yard space that we love the most. A huge granite slab dining table is perfect for hanging out while cooking in the outdoor kitchen or socializing under the string lights while chilling to the built in blue tooth sound. The the foodies cooking we love our grill but our true love is the professional griddle. We love cooking big breakfasts before the long days outdoors. It's a very nice area that has beautifully tree filtered sunlight, with daytime vistas and night time star drenched views. For the more practical there's a spare fridge and a small commercial icemaker that should take care of almost all your ice needs.
Adjacent to the outdoor area is the outdoor shower. It's a large, private shower with room to change in.
PLEASE SEE "Other Things to Note"
Guest accessGuests of the Peterson have private use of the driveway and parking area directly in front of the house, the open utility shed, along both sides of the house and the backyard/patio. You are free to use the area in front of the large garage to move in and out but please do not park there or anywhere along the road. The driveway is yours to use as needed and perfectly OK to block if needed.
Additional notesEastern Washington can have very severe weather and is a rugged place. It is not uncommon for the air to be smoky, sometimes extremely smoky during wildfire season. Wildfire season seems to be getting longer and longer each year but typically late July through mid September are the most concerning. We do not specifically refund for weather and smoky conditions.
The community pool is current closed to guests. The wonderful riverside grassy park is open and a wonderful place to cool off in place of the pool.

Guest interactionOur property is like a small compound consisting of 2 residential lots. The RV spot and the house on one lot and on the other a large garage and bunkhouse/casita for our personal use. We rent the house and RV spot separately but the home and back patio are plenty private.
Neighborhood overviewCommunity has amazing views of Columbia River and spectacular canyon walls. if boating is on the agenda, perfect, there is plenty of boat parking. This beautiful property is ready and willing to provide you with an amazing desert vacation, all just over 2 hours from Seattle.
Getting aroundGeneral Store/Gas/Pizza:
The property is just around the corner from the commercial amenities. The store has most everything you should need if you forgot something...or everything. Phoenix Pizza is a great place to get food and drinks, they have small indoor seating but a good sized back patio. Sunland is a tough place to run a business, expect hours, crowds and service to be hit and miss. Overall it's a great place to give a try.
Riverfront Park:
About 4 blocks away, south one block to Community and 3 towards the river is a grassy riverfront park. The park is massive with sprawling grass lawns and shade trees. The kids play structure, basket ball and volleyball courts are available. Pool and tennis courts are for owners only. Port a potty's are available.
Rattle Snake Cove:
As you drove down the hill final switchback you passed a small, public beach access park. Nice little park if it's not crowded.
Beach with actual rattle snakes:
At the very north end of Sunland there is a trailhead that leads to a beautiful sandy beach...if the water is down. If the water is up there will be no beach, nothing! Be careful of rattle snakes anywhere in Sunland but especially here. Pay attention and make lots of noise heading down trail, they'll steer clear. If you hear one, make more noise and move away from the sound. It's super loud you can't miss it. It's not common to see them, but it's also not uncommon! IF the water is down AND you're willing to make the journey the huge sandy beaches get the best and longest evening sun of any beach and you'll likely be finding the locals on there boats here the the last slice of sun crests the hills.
Boat Launch:
You passed the boat launch on the way in, just past Rattle Snake Cove park. This is a Wa State Game boat launched and is semi primitive. Two fairly wide ramps with no docks. Parking is an unmarked gravel lot. You'll need a Discover Pass and pay attention to the line and parking.
Gorge Amphitheater:
The amphitheater is about a 5 mile drive from the property.
Shuttle:
There is usually a shuttle available. Book early if it's a popular show as they frequently book up. IF you check out Rent the Gorge select shuttle for the number.
